Dall'Italia al Sudafrica: My Italian Kitchen Is Coming to Expresso 🇮🇹

📺 Ci vediamo on Expresso!
Every Wednesday in October | 06:00–09:00 | Expresso Morning Show
Bring your coffee.
I'll bring the pasta.
If you know me, you know I'm happiest when there's good food, a kitchen full of people and a little bit of chaos happening around the stove.
So when Expresso asked me to join them every Wednesday morning in October for a month of Italian cooking, I obviously said sì!
But we're not just making four Italian recipes and calling it a day.
We're bringing Italy and South Africa together in the kitchen, and I'm so excited about this one.
🇮🇹 Una vera lezione di cucina italiana
Every Wednesday, I'll be joining Clem and the Expresso team live in the kitchen from 06:00 to 09:00.
I'll be taking Clem and the viewers through an Italian dish, but I want it to feel like a real lezione di cucina, an Italian cooking class.
So yes, we'll be cooking. But I'll also be talking about the why behind the food.
Why do Italians cook something a certain way?
What makes a good ragù?
Why does the pasta shape actually matter?
Which little techniques make such a big difference?
And, of course, there will be plenty of "ma dai!" moments along the way.
Because Italian cooking isn't about making complicated food. It's about understanding your ingredients, respecting tradition and knowing how to make something delicious without trying to overdo it.
🇿🇦 Poi, tocca a Clem.
This is where it gets interesting.
After I've brought a little bit of Italy into the kitchen, Clem is going to introduce me to a South African dish or flavour.
And I'm not going to lie, I'm very excited to see what he puts in front of me.
I love the idea of actually experiencing South African food rather than simply talking about it. Food tells you so much about a place, its people and its history.
And I think there's something really beautiful about putting two food cultures next to each other and asking:
What happens when Italy meets South Africa?
Maybe there'll be some similarities. Maybe there'll be some surprises. And maybe we'll accidentally create something that absolutely belongs on the table in both countries.
🍝 And then, finalmente, we eat.
Because what would an Italian cooking class be without everyone sitting down to taste what we've made?
At the end of each morning, Clem, the presenters and I will come together for a proper taste test.
We'll talk about the flavours, compare the Italian and South African dishes and, most importantly, enjoy the food.
Perché il cibo è fatto per essere condiviso.
Food is meant to be shared.
That's one of the things I love most about Italian food. It's never just about what's on the plate. It's about the people around the table, the stories being told and the time spent together.
And I think South Africans understand that feeling too.
🇮🇹 Quattro mercoledì. Due culture. Tanto cibo.
Each Wednesday will have its own theme, with different recipes and a different way of bringing Italian and South African flavours together.
I'll be sharing the food I grew up with and the techniques I've learned along the way, while also getting to discover more of the food culture here in South Africa.
For me, that's what makes this so exciting.
It's not just about teaching Italian cooking.
It's about sharing Italy.
And if I can make someone watching at home feel like they've travelled to Italy for a morning, even if they're sitting on their couch in Cape Town, then I'll be very happy.
Andiamo! 🇮🇹
